What this size is for
The Google Play feature graphic. Required for every listing, shown at the top of your store page and in promotional placements. It is not a screenshot, and it has no device in it.
What gets a file rejected
Google Play is less strict than Apple about exact resolutions — it accepts a range, with a minimum and a maximum on each side — but it does enforce the aspect ratio, and it does reject files that are too small. The size above is the one that fills the slot without being upscaled.
MobileShots exports this canvas at 1× with the alpha channel flattened, because a store canvas is not a canvas with a different size — it is a form with rules, and the rules are not the author's to choose.
The other Google Play sizes
A listing usually needs more than one. These are the rest, same source, same editor.
